The only thing that is disappointing about the trains system in Spain is the fact that not all the populated areas are covered by the system. Some areas do not have a train station especially the small towns. In such cases where the train system fails, you may have to catch a bus. Some rail lines are disposed in a way that is radial making all the rail tracks lead to Madrid.

Travelling by bus is also an option in Spain. It is a very attractive and better option especially for those who are working with a very tight budget. There are many bus service providers in Spain. Most of the bus companies serve areas and in a way connect all the Spanish cities. It is a convenient way to travel. Most of the cities in Spain only have one bus station and it is not hard to find. You may use the public means if at all the private buses prove a bit too expensive.

It is reliable to travel by bus except at the peak holiday season when roads may be crowded. You may experience delays during such times.

Travelling by boat is yet another option. You can actually use a boat form the UK. There are the Brittany ferries services that can be used. The overall journey may take 24 hours. You can get a boat from Portsmouth dropping you off at Bilbao. The boat may also take you to Plymouth and Santander. In this case, you can choose the option that will work perfectly for you. P&O used to be an operator in these routes but that is no longer the case.

For the UK again, Spain has a good connection by ferry to northern Africa especially morocco and Tunisia. The Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands are equally accessible.
