Many of the attractions in Spain are actually historic. This therefore makes the history of Spain quite an important part of the tourism in Spain. It plays a major role as many people come to witness everything that was actually left as a legacy by the lands history.
From the pre-historic times, there are a lot of remains that have been found in Spain. Those that are still seen today include cave of Altamira, jativa (cova negra), and pinar in Granada. All these areas are worth a visit.
Many people consider the very first inhabitants of the Iberian Peninsula to be Iberians. According to archeological findings, there were actually some other populations on the peninsula even before the Iberians occupied the area.
After the Iberians, other people also came to the peninsula and it is how the Celt came to be. Phoenicians upon arrival to the Iberian Peninsula were able to form colonies. The regions that the Phoenicians occupied include Cadiz, Malaga as well as Adra. Greeks had some colonies in the Mediterranean coast. There were Punic wars during which the Romans were able to occupy Spain. Carthaginians also managed to conquer some areas. Colonies included cardigan and Ibiza.
The Romans may be considered as the most notorious especially because they were able to take over the whole peninsula. It may be the reason why the Roman Empire is still evident in Spain even today. After the Romans came the gothic. Next came the Muslim.
Many other people established thrones in Spain after each collapse. This explains to a very great extent why Spain is so diverse. The diversity can actually be seen especially in the culture of the people. The architectural designs that are applied in Spain also speak volumes. The areas where specific conquerors occupied still have a lot of evidence regarding the colonial times.
All these historic events have created some indisputably good historic pearls. These are so valuable and they have their share of returns to the economy of Spain. Many of the historic sites have been carefully maintained and so are still in perfect condition.
Most of the architectural woks also relate to religion; the dominant ones being cathedrals and mosques. Visiting this country is a perfect place for tours especially for all of us who love to relive the historic moments. Try very much to organize your tour well so as to be able to get the best experience in Spain. A tour guide is also a good idea. Most are very aware of the history of the land and therefore will be able to give you the guidance that you may require.
